All roads lead to Fear Street

And while the name R.L. Stine probably calls to mind the youth-targeted scares of Goosebumps, Netflix’s upcoming Fear Street trilogy is definitely not for kids.

The three-film adaptation of Stine’s books will air on back-to-back weekends this July. While Netflix previously dropped a trailer for the overall trilogy, we’re now getting a closer look at the first movie.

Watch the trailer for Fear Street Part 1: 1994 below.

In Part 1, a group of teenagers accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years.

(The subsequent movies in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy will actually move backwards in time, subtitled 1978 and 1666.)

Part 1 stars Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Julia Rehwald, Fred Hechinger, Ashley Zukerman, Maya Hawke, Darrell Britt-Gibson. Jordana Spiro, Jordyn Dinatale, and Jeremy Ford.

“Fear Street fans are in for a treat – and some major surprises. Readers know that the book series is rated PG. But the movies are rated R. That means a lot more thrills – and a lot more terror!” said Stine. “I have seen Leigh Janiak’s epic trilogy releasing on Netflix in July and I can tell you the scares and the SCREAMS are more than I ever expected. What fun to see the horrors of Shadyside come to life!”
