Toss a coin to your Witcher… and a teaser trailer to your fans!
In honor of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streamer dropped a new teaser for season 2 of The Witcher. The tweet reads, “Lost in the woods no more” and shows a quick montage of Ciri (Freya Allen) in the upcoming season. Watch it the clip below:
Season 2 of The Witcher will follow Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) on a quest to bring Princess Cirilla (aka Ciri, seen in the above clip) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.
Season 1 of The Witcher premiered on Netflix back in December 2019. Production on season 2 began shortly after in February 2020. But the COVID-19 pandemic caused a number of complications and delays. The streamer has yet to announce a premiere date for the upcoming season.
However, fans do have one solid date they can mark on their calendars to look forward to. Netflix also revealed it would host WitcherCon on July 9. The event draws inspiration from both the TV series and the video game. CD Projekt Red, developer behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk, will co-host the event.
Two other Witcher projects are currently in development at Netflix as well; Blood Origins, a limited prequel series; and Nightmare of the Wolf, an animated feature about Vesemir, a character joining The Witcher in season 2.
So, what do you want to see in the upcoming season? Will you tune in for WitcherCon? Let us know in the comments.
