The horrors of racism and the supernatural collide in Amazon’s anthology series Them.
Check out the trailer below:
This clip builds on the initial teaser released a couple weeks ago. Based on these clips alone, you can already tell the show mastered the art of creepy music. (This latest trailer includes an ominous version of “Home” from The Wiz.) The series appears to follow in the vein of recent horror hits like Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us, as well as the HBO series Lovecraft Country. They all combine the real-life horrors of racism with a supernatural element.
Here’s the official series description from Amazon:
Them is a limited anthology series that explores terror in America. The 1950s-set first season centers on a Black family who moves from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration. Then the family’s idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces, next-door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.
The series stars Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, Alison Pill, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Melody Hurd, and Ryan Kwanten. Them was created by Little Marvin, who serves alongside Lena Waithe as an executive producer.
The ten-episode series premieres on Amazon Prime on Friday, April 9.
