Netflix announced awhile back that they would continue the Pacific Rim franchise in Anime form. The series would be called Pacific Rim: The Black. We now have the first trailer and an official synopsis for the Pacific Rim Anime:

Pacific Rim: The Black Trailer

“There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.”

The Black will run for two seasons for now, and it will rank as one of the most expensive Netflix anime to date. For the opening credits and pictures check out the article here. While the live action movies turned into great action/monster movies, they did not draw well enough to continue. At the same time, shows like this make anime masterpieces.

The trailer and opening credits give us a good idea of what the show might be like, but will it be a quality show? Netflix has been hitting not only shows in general, but anime shows out of the park for some time. With shows like Voltron, Dragon Prince, and the X-Men, Netflix churns out some of the best anime shows around so far. Only Wolverine comes up short of their recent titles. That happened simply because they completely missed the character of Wolverine and retold the story of X-Men Origins: The Wolverine.

The best part is the release date. We need not wait months for this show to release. Pacific Rim: The Black releases on Netflix March 4th.
