Gattaca

Gattaca is verging on sci-fi classic territory. I’m not sure the length of time or critical/public acclaim that something needs to get there, but I’m sure it’s close. The film, starring Ethan Hawke, Jude Law, Uma Thurman, and Alan Arkin is getting it’s first foray into 4K. That might not be a special thing, but when you consider that the film is being remastered from the original camera negative, it’s going to look better than ever.

If you haven’t seen Gattaca, here’s the official synopsis.

Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Alan Arkin and Jude Law star in this engrossing sci-fi thriller about an all-too-human man who dares to defy a system obsessed with genetic perfection. Hawke stars as Vincent, an “In-Valid” who assumes the identity of a member of the genetic elite to pursue his goal of traveling into space with the Gattaca Aerospace Corporation. However, a week before his mission, a murder marks Vincent as a suspect. With a relentless investigator in pursuit and the colleague he has fallen in love with beginning to suspect his deception, Vincent’s dreams steadily unravel.

Yeah, it’s a pretty deep movie. It made huge waves in the 90’s. Now the subject matter is even more relevant. This brand new 4K Ultra HD package comes with a steelbook for those collectors out there. It also has deleted scenes, blooper reel, and the “Welcome To Gattaca” featurette.

This new 4K version of the film comes out March 23rd, 2021. So, make sure to check it out when it comes.
