It seems that in Cyberpunk 2077, the devs truly thought of everything. At least, in regards to players who bought the game, downloaded it early, and then attempted to play it before December 10, 2020. When that happened, the players got this special message instead:

Cyberpunk 207 Easter egg screenshot.
When devs think of everything.

The message for this particular Easter egg reads, word for word as posted on Reddit: “Go back to sleep, Samurai. It’s not December 10th yet!”. The speaker is only named “Johnny”. However, it’s fairly obvious who it is. There is, after all, only one significant character in Cyberpunk 2077 who goes by the name of Johnny. Here’s a hint: his surname starts with a precious metal, and ends with that very important bit of your body at the end of your arm.

Here’s Johnny Silverhand!

Johnny Silverhand himself, hovering over you all cool like.
Minus the axe!

Notice the transmission tower in the background of this Johnny Silverhand promo image here. It’s literally the same tower in the background of that Cyberpunk 2077 Easter egg message. It’s just from a different angle. Not only that, but the little HUD messages in the top left and top right corners of the screen are also identical to the promo image. The whole background is the same junkyard as in this promo image. It seems like the entire message is just one big Easter egg for those with sharp enough eyes.

Bunny: "Prepare yourselves, Easter egg hunt is coming."
You need not be a bunny to participate.

Of course, it begs the question as to what you’re doing in that junkyard in Cyberpunk 2077 in the first place. And with Johnny Silverhand hovering over you to boot. Guess we’ll just have to wait until we can actually play the game. Considering that the game launches tomorrow as of this writing, we won’t have to wait long.

Conclusion

The devs at CD Projekt Red truly thought of everything when they made Cyberpunk 2077. They even made a little Easter egg for people who try to play the game early, before it finally launches on December 10, 2020. Don’t believe me? Buy the game yourself, download it, and try to play it. Maybe you’ll even be in time to get this Easter egg yourself.
