With New York Comic Con raging from the very first day, there are a lot of new shows and panels happening. CBS revealed the opening scene from the third season of Star Trek: Discovery at their Star Trek Universe panel. The show goes further into the future from it’s second season to the third. Star Sonequa Martin-Green’s character, Michael Burnham, is shown hurtling through time and space through an anomaly in the Red Angel suit.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SECOND SEASON OF Star Trek: Discovery

But really why are you reading this if you haven’t watched the second season. The second season left off with the USS Discovery following Michael through the anomaly. Going into a far future that they don’t recognize. They have to find their way back to their present or make it work in the current time.

It’s a pretty interesting concept for the overall season, and one that is tried in true across Star Trek. The season continues with the same cast of Sonequa Martin-Green as Commander Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Commander Saru, Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), and David Ajala (Cleveland “Book” Booker).

The third season could have been in peril had it started at a later point in production. The show barely missed a shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So all of the post-production work has been done remotely.

You can stream Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access, along with any other Star Trek show.
