While Phase 4 of the MCU does not kick off until May 2020, we know Marvel’s plan and unfortunately that does not currently include a Deadpool movie. Marvel has also revealed some of their plans for Phase 5 of the MCU. But… there does appear to be some wiggle room in that schedule and is 2 to 3 years out. However, recent Instagram posts from Ryan Reynolds himself and news from Hollywood insiders may be pointing to a Deadpool 3 happening somewhere in Phase 5.
If you follow Reynolds on Instagram at vancityreynolds you’ll know that he trolled fans by posting a picture of himself at Marvel Studios stating that he had auditioned for the role of “Anthony Stark”. This does appear to be a good indicator that Reynolds and Marvel executives are discussing how and when to introduce the Merc with a Mouth to the MCU. Given the amount of money Deadpool has made in its previous 2 outings, I don’t see Disney leaving that money on the table.
More ‘Deadpool 3’ Tacos…
Over at BGR.com, they reported on November 19th that an insider stated that a Deadpool 3 announcement is imminent. According to BGR this insider has provided accurate information to them in the past about MCU titles and time-frames. The indication is that we may see the Deadpool threequel somewhere late in 2022. However, this is all rumor at this point and should be taken with a grain of salt.
A third installment has not been the only news this week with regards to the Deadpool franchise though. T.J. Miller, who played Weasel in the films, recently appeared on The Adam Corolla Show and conversation eventually turned to Deadpool and its future. Miller made the statement about returning to the role:
“Of course, if they want me to do Deadpool 3, I’m going to. I’m under contract. To be honest, I’d almost would rather that they didn’t. I think Deadpool 2, we knocked it out of the park. I really think it ended up being great and I was worried about that. So what if Deadpool 3 is… eh.”

Whether T.J. Miller returns to the role or is recast I think, given Reynolds’ interest in continuing in the role and Disney’s interest in investing in the franchise, we will definitely see another Deadpool movie. The only real question is when!
