Chewbacca in STAR WARS Adventures #27
Written by John Barber and art by Derek Charm, this story takes us back to Chewbacca’s home planet of Kashyyyk. There Chewie and his fellow Wookiees are ready to defend themselves against attacks from the First Order. Both Barber and Charm are excited about working on this story. Here is what they had to say:
John Barber on Derek Charm and Chewbacca
It’s a thrill and an honor to get to tell this story with the amazing Derek Charm,” Chewie’s one of my favorite characters ever, for as long as I can remember. Having the opportunity to tell his story to a new generation of Star Wars fans – and all this leading up to the conclusion to the Skywalker saga — is one of the biggest thrills of my career.”
Charm talks about working on a STAR WARS series
I’ve been lucky enough to work within a lot of Star Wars eras in this series, but doing something in the current, post-Last Jedi landscape is really exciting. The fact that it focuses on Chewbacca and what he’s been up to between these movies is more so.”
That’s not all
It’s not all about Chewbacca. There will also be a backup tale by writer Michael Moreci and artist Tony Fleecs. This tale will feature some of our favorite droids C-3PO, R2-D2, and BB-8. As we know at the end of The Last Jedi the Resistance put out a call for help and with use of Leia’s code they were hoping for a response. Well their transmissions were received but with no response. Well now this trio of droids must set out on one of their most important missions to date, A recruiting campaign for the Resistance.
Chewbacca canon
We have got a lot of canon information on Chewbacca in the past few years not from the movies. From STAR WARS: Holiday Special (thanks to SOLO) and the comics, we have learned about Chewie’s family and that Chewbacca DID receive the Medal of Bravery it just wasn’t on Yavin see link below.
