Netflix’s will release the third chapter of the series, Stranger Things 3, this coming July 4th. (Check out the trailer HERE.) We know that the new season takes place in 1985. And we also know that the kids are at summer camp. To promote the new season, Netflix released 14 brand-new character posters highlighting everyone returning for this new season. They’ve also showcased a new partnership with Coca-Cola.

Coke Teams Up With Netflix for Strangers Things 3

Along with the posters, Coca-Cola is partnering with Netflix for Stranger Things 3 this season. With the season taking place in 1985, Coke has introduced their infamous New Coke product. It only lasted about 79 days before it was pulled.

And in light of this new season of Stranger Things, The Coca-Cola Company will be releasing 12-oz cans of the drink starting this Thursday, May 23rd. Coke also released an ad about it on their Twitter.

Fans of the show will also be seeing New Coke in several episodes this season. The Duffer Brothers, who are the showrunners of the series recently spoke to the New York Times about that decision to have New Coke in the show:

New Coke was always going to play a role this season. It was one of the first ideas in our Season 3 brainstorm, it was the summer of ’85, and when you talk about pop culture moments, New Coke was a really big deal. It would have been more bizarre to not include it.”

There could also be references to 4 big movies that had released back in ’85: Back To The Future, The Breakfast Club, The Goonies, and Weird Science.

The new season releases soon, and I’m interested to see what is going to happen this season.
