It’s still unclear when Disney will release Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 3. Notwithstanding, one of the film’s stars is speaking up about the studio’s decision to rehire maligned director James Gunn.
Granted, now all the focus is on Avengers: Endgame. This past Monday, while at the Los Angeles Endgame premiere, Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star Lord) talked to People about James Gunn:
I was so thrilled, so excited. I think it’s the right move, I really stand behind it. I’m really proud of Disney for hiring James back and ultimately thrilled for not only us, but also for the fans. I think it’s going to wrap up the trilogy in the best way. And Guardians of the Galaxy are really all about second chances and giving people an opportunity to be their best. We’re a ragtag squad of people coming together and having each other’s back. I think it really worked out the way it was supposed to, and I feel good about it.”
Chris Pratt on James Gunn: “It’s all about second chances”
Pratt would go on to say in the interview “…Guardians of the Galaxy are really all about second chances and giving people an opportunity to be their best. We’re a ragtag squad of people coming together and having each other’s back. I think it really worked out the way it was supposed to, and I feel good about it.”
It’s going to be some time before James Gunn gets his chance behind the camera for Marvel again, however. DC snagged the director for its upcoming Suicide Squad sequel. That is likely to go to production before Gunn can focus on Quill & crew again.
Regardless, now that James Gunn is back directing Guardians 3, it seems like Pratt and the rest of the cast are ready to get this final chapter of the Guardians story told.
