The Rest of Princess Bride

Then you have Chris Sarandon, Prince Humperdink.  When we met him for his autograph, he would not shake people’s hands.  Instead he gave a hearty fist bump.  He was reserved, but still talked with fans as they went through. I was not as familiar with Chris and his career, so it was hard to say stuff to him.  We did not make his panel but heard he choked up when thanking fans for their years of support.

Finally, Wallace Shawn, who played Vizzini.  We were warned of two things with Wallace. 1- do NOT ask for quotes! He will not sign them. He will not say them.  You WILL piss him off. 2 – This line will be slow because he loves to talk to guests and talk he did.  We chatted with him for about 5 minutes like we were old buddies.  It was incredibly personal and fun to experience.

The Final Two Comicon Celebrities

We met Paige O’Hara who was the original voice of Belle in the animated movie version of Beauty and the Beast.  She was very fun to talk to as well.  We talked about the movie for several minutes before moving on after we got her autograph.

Finally, I had the pleasure of meeting and getting autographs from the last of the Comicon Celebrities we met, Chris Claremont.  While he may not have been the creator of the X-Men, he oversaw and was in charge of the franchise during its hay-days in the late 80s/early 90s. I could have pulled up a stool and listened to him talk for hours about his writing of X-Men and comic book day.  I was quite happy to have shocked him.  Where everyone else was throwing X-Men stuff at him to sign, I dropped the Willow trilogy (Shadow Moon, Shadow Star and Shadow Dawn) he wrote with the guidance of George Lucas.  I finally got to hear some George Lucas tales and how Claremont became involved with writing this trilogy in the first place.  He was a wonderful story teller. Duh.
