Avengers 4 may not be hitting theaters until May 3rd of 2019, but fans are going to get a peek into the story much sooner than that. Of course, the trailer has been expected to drop before the end of the year, but even if that prediction doesn’t come true there is one certain event that MCU fans can look forward to next month: the publication of the Avengers 4 Prelude comic book.
The first issue of the prequel comic will hit stands on December 5th, and there will wind up being three issues in total. Now, while the Preludes have been criticized in the past for not being much more than a recap of the previous film in question, there have at times been known to be deleted scenes included. At the very least, they are a good barometer for what events are important to the core of the next MCU film. Not to mention that the release of these three issues can also help us guess when the trailer is finally arriving. Usually the trailer comes out before the comic, but perhaps in this case it will coincide with the final issue’s publication?
As of yet, the comic still refers to Avengers 4 as an untitled movie, so viewers will probably have to wait until the trailer so long as they don’t explode with anticipation before then. The comic is written by Will Corona Pilgrim and drawn by Paco Diaz, and you can find the solicitation for the first issue below, as well as a nifty cover that depicts Tony’s battle against Thanos on Titan.
