The magical new film, A Boy Called Christmas drops on Netflix tomorrow! We had a chance to sit down and chat about the film with Co-Writer/Director Gil Kenan. As well as the star of the film, Henry Lawful.
Based on the book by Matt Haig, A Boy Called Christmas is an adorable and whimsical take on the origin of Christmas. The film tells the story of a boy named Nikolas (Lawfull) who sets out on an adventure to find his father (Michiel Huisman) who has gone missing. Joining Nikolas on his journey are his talking pet mouse, Miika, and a reindeer named Blitzen. Together they journey to the fabled land of Elfhelm, the land of Elves.
Bringing to life a children’s book like A Boy Called Christmas can be a huge challenge. Especially one that takes in the tundra of the North Pole with Elves, Fairies, and so much more! I had a chance to talk with Henry Lawfull about his first major project, as well as working with such acting powerhouses. I also spoke with Co-writer/Director Gil Kenan (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) about the challenges of bringing this magical world from page to screen. And the addition of Dame Maggie Smith (Harry Potter)!
