DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH is perhaps one of the most long-awaited video sequels in the world right now. All because it’s the sequel to Hideo Kojima‘s DEATH STRANDING, which launched on November 8, 2019 originally for the PS4. This would mean that it has been a little over five years since that first game came out, and took the world by storm…or rather, by flood. The gameplay may not have been for everyone (essentially being an extreme walking simulator taken to new heights), but no one could deny that the entire game was an incredible story experience. Complete with some amazing visuals, including some highly detailed character models and high quality voice acting, from a massive cast.

It’s really no wonder why any news of a sequel to that would get so much attention. And then Kojima Productions and PlayStation decide to collaborate to dump all the news about DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH in a single special panel at the 2025 edition of South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, USA. The announcement comes with a whole bunch of news about it, including the release date. The game will launch on June 26, 2025 exclusively for the PS5 at the moment. Fortunately, the first DEATH STRANDING received a PC port, so we can expect this sequel to also get such a port. Just…not soon.

However, the announcement also mentions that you can start preordering DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH on March 17, 2025 at 10AM (local time). That preorder announcement also comes with one of the longest and most bizarre trailers I’ve ever seen. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out that 10 minute-long trailer below, and see for yourself if this is the sequel for you in the land of tar?

DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH Reveals Preorder and Release Dates

The Heaven and Hell imagery is quite palpable even in the thumb.

Honestly, the trailer looks amazing. If anything, it feels like the graphics of DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH have improved over its predecessor. With the story being just as imcomprehensible, despite the just over 10 minutes of gameplay and cutscene footage in this trailer. It’s pretty clear though that we are going to get one heck of a story with this game.

What do you all think after watching that preorder trailer? Are you all excited for the release of DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH? Are you desperate to find out what it means when you have giant tar monsters punching each other like giant robots in an anime? Share your comments with us below in the comments section.
