Netflix’s adaptation of the dark fantasy The Sandman returns for a second and final season this summer.

The new episodes see Tom Sturridge return as Dream of the Endless, who must navigate new adventures on a quest to absolve himself of his past mistakes.

Check out the official teaser for season 2 of The Sandman below, which features brief appearances from Dream’s siblings Death, Destiny, Desire, Despair, and Delirium.

Here’s the official synopsis of season 2 from Netflix:

After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything. Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series, the second season of THE SANDMAN will tell Dream’s story arc in full to its thrilling conclusion.

“The Endless are supposed to be just that: endless. They’re meant to go on in perpetuity.  They’re not supposed to change.  But change is, of course, inevitable and essential to all life. Which is something Dream refuses to accept – at first. And when one of the Endless changes, it has colossal ramifications for all of us,” showrunner Allan Heinberg told TUDUM about the upcoming episodes.

The Sandman adapts the comic series originally created by Neil Gaiman. Gaiman boarded the Netflix project as an EP and was heavily involved in the promotion of season 1. However, following allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, his presence for this new season has been largely de-emphasized. Gaiman remains attached to the series as an executive producer.

The second and final season of The Sandman will arrive in two volumes. The first premieres July 3 and includes the six episodes. The second premieres July 24 and includes five episodes. You can stream the first season on Netflix now.
