Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde series just got a little bigger (and a little blonder). Deadline revealed today that June Diane Raphael will join the show’s cast.

Raphael will star in the series in a leading role opposite previously cast Lexi Minetree. Minetree will play the young Elle Woods, while Raphael will play Elle’s mother Eva. Eva is described as “polished, pragmatic, and thrives on keeping things picture-perfect.”

The upcoming series acts as a prequel to the popular Legally Blonde films starring Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon executive produces the series, which follows a high-school aged Elle.

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!” Witherspoon said when the series was announced. “I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!”

Elle comes from co-showrunners Laura Kittrell and Caroline Dries.

Raphael’s TV credits include Grace and Frankie, Based on a True Story, and a recent recurring spot on Abbott Elementary. She also recurs on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, in which Witherspoon stars and executive produces.
