Shameless: The Complete Series is on DVD right now  and TV fans owe it to themselves to revisit this amazing show. Warner Brothers Discovery Home Entertainment dropped a copy of Shameless: The Complete Series for That Hashtag Show to review and we’re very pleased to report that the show completely holds up.

For those who don’t know, Shameless is about a family with a very raggedy patriarch who has to deal with the trials and tribulations of being broke. The cast is filled with familiar faces of TV stardom now like Jeremy Allen White and Cameron Monaghan as part of the darling crew of kids under the care of William H Macy’s absolutely typhoon-like drunk.

Still, upon rewatch it’s pretty clear that Shameless has formed a backbone for a lot of the comedies that exist on cable television today. You wouldn’t get some of the surreal offerings like Loudermilk or Younger without Shameless paving the way more than a decade ago now. You can hear interviews where Jeremy Allen White reflected on the series and stardom before The Bear.

What Do You Get In Shameless: The Complete Series?

Is it too cheeky to say all of Shameless? Because it is what it says on the tin for the most part. Let’s crunch some numbers. 134 episodes over 11 seasons. More than 7,500 minutes in all. It’s a lot of viewing. Honestly, considering the episode counts that exist on broadcast television now, it’s super impressive to see so many episodes in the show’s run. In a real sense, they don’t make them like this anymore. All these episodes, so much character development, and you can track it all in one meat box set? Say less!

I wouldn’t say that Shameless: The Complete Series brings back the complete glory days of that HBO staple. But it’s as close as you can get in an air of streaming. As I’ve noted in some other reviews, loving these shows means knowing that you’re going to have to invest in the complete series to have access whenever you want. And there’s multiple extras to make it worth your while in the case of Shameless the complete series. We heartily recommend Shameless: The Complete Series

What’s The Plot Of Shameless: The Complete Series?

Shameless: The Complete Series

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment describes the show: “Meet Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy): proud, working-class patriarch to a motley brood of six smart, spirited and independent kids who, without him, would be…better off. In Frank’s booze-addled view, parenting just eats into his hard-earned bar-crawling time around Chicago – so he leaves it to eldest daughter Fionna (Emmy Rossum) to hold down the fort. Bearing the de facto parent badge/burden, she’s donned the proverbial apron and makes sure her younger siblings do their chores, keep a clean-ish home, and everyone (no matter how small) works to keep the house lights on, as well as food on the table.”

“Brothers Lip (Jeremy Allen White), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) use their intellect to break every rule in the book to survive and make the bank, while younger sister Debbie (Emma Kenney) would sooner steal her share, Toddle Liam, the youngest, is just happy to be along for the ride. The Gallaghers are irreverent, endearing, resilient – and they’re absolutely, wildly and unapologetically Shameless.”
