Number One On The Call Sheet takes us into the minds of Hollywood’s brightest stars this Friday. That Hashtag Show was able to attend a special press conference for the Apple TV+ documentary. Jamie Foxx, Reginald Hudlin and Shola Lynch talked to us about leading a production from the front.

For Hudlin, the question of how to lead always comes down to vision. He said that there are still choices from previous projects that he ends up thinking about to this day. Lynch also offered some insight to the process of bringing a film or series together from the very first steps of development.

“Anything with your name on it generates a lot of pressure,” Hudlin began. “I don’t care what the size of the budget is, this is your name. I need to protect my name, because my name is my parents name. There’s a lot of weight on that. I remember when I did my first move, I was like, ‘I can’t wear a t-shirt to work.’ I was a kid, they were going to say, ‘Go get me a drink’ if I don’t look semi-responsible.”

Hudlin continued, “There was a sense that, even behind the camera, I had to be a certain kind of person. I had to be professional. I had to be prepared. If I wasn’t i would be disrespecting the entire crew, right? So you have to be that person. Also, if this is your dream come true, you better act like it!”

Foxx agreed and Lynch stressed the importance of that personal stamp. “I would only add that your name means something. I always tell people a film by Shola Lynch means something!

Number One On The Call Sheet Stars Share Their Hollywood Expertise

Number One On The Call Sheet covers the actors’ side of things too. Jamie Foxx talked about how fans keep him grounded. In particular, there’s one set of viewers that are always ready to give it to him straight. As you would expect, the star made it a lot of fun.

“I go through an airport, TSA lets me know. ‘Foxx what was that?,’” the comedian laughed. “Jamie, what was going on???’ If my movie’s good, they let me go on through. ‘Male check!’ They got me spread eagle out there. ‘Make a better movie next time, we’ll let you through…’
