Power Rangers has got to be one of the most iconic tokusatsu series in the world. In fact, they and the original Super Sentai Series they are based on helped cement the fame of tokusatsu as a genre, both in their home nation of Japan and further abroad. I mean, seriously. Those who remember watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a kid when it first aired in August 28, 1993 will clearly know what I mean by that.

Thus, it’s no surprise that the franchise’s popularity would continue to the present day. How else do you explain Disney and 20th Century TV order a brand new live-action Power Rangers series for Disney+? And according to TheWrap, this upcoming series will even feature Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) as the showrunners, writers, and producers to boot. Oh, and with Hasbro Entertainment producing as well, so you can expect some action figure/doll tie-ins too.

Alas, we don’t have any other info about this upcoming Power Rangers TV series. No other production cast, no release window, and we don’t even know what the actual title of this series is going to be. The one we are using are just placeholders until we learn its actual title. We will just have to wait for Disney to give us that info at a later date.

Power Rangers Getting Live-Action Reboot on Disney+

Yes, that’s precisely what’s happening. This is Disney attempting to reboot Power Rangers into their own profitable franchise all for themselves. Without having to share with other sites that hold the license like Netflix and Paramount Pictures. Alas, with so little info at this early stage, we can only guess what it will be about, or even if it will be any good.

What do you all think? What kind of Power Rangers do you all think Disney will come up with? Do you will it will be an explosive hit, or a flop onto the ground after a supervillain throw? Leave your ideas below in the comments section.
