Sci-fi thriller Companion will officially release on digital platforms this Friday, February 18.

The announcement comes after a shockingly short theatrical window for the film, which just premiered on January 31. At one time this might have been an indicator that the movie was a dud. But Companion has performed moderately well at the box office, and holds strong scores from audiences and critics alike on Rotten Tomatoes. (For the record, we loved the movie.) So, this move is more indicative of an unfortunate trend in the entertainment industry at the moment than an indictment of Companion itself.

Companion blends dark comedy and thrills with a touch of sci-fi. The story follows a group of friends vacationing at a remote cabin. But their getaway descends into chaos when it’s revealed one of the guests is not what they seem.

The feature comes from writer/director Drew Hancock and the producers of Barbarian. The film stars Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend.

In addition to Companion’s digital release in February, the film will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray on April 1. See special features related to the physical media release below.
