The upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie from Netflix and Greta Gerwig is a hugely anticipated film. The movies are getting a two-week IMAX run in November 2026 when they release in theaters before it hits Netflix. Our friends at What’s On Netflix (and corroborated by Deadline) are reporting that Daniel Craig is being eyed to star in the film. Now, it’s currently unknown which Narnia story they’re adapting, but What’s On Netflix is also reporting that Gerwig is adapting The Magician’s Nephew. There are also reports that pop star Charlie XCX will star as the White Witch.
Craig, if he accepts the current offer from Netflix is in line to star as Uncle Andrew Ketterley. Here’s how they described the character.
“Andrew is described as Digory Kirke’s eccentric and morally ambiguous uncle. He is one of the main antagonists of The Magician’s Nephew, which we’re told is what Greta Gerwig will adapt first. Andrew is both a magician and an alchemist who, in the books, tricks Diagory’s friend into entering another world. One of his experiments inadvertently brings Jadis, the White Witch, to London, causing chaos.“
There have been casting calls out for the other two young protagonists of the film. There aren’t any other known candidates for the role or the two protagonists yet. This would mark a return for Craig to Netflix. He previously starred in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery for the streamer. He’s also recently starred in A24’s Queer and obviously was James Bond among other major roles.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is slated to release in theaters in November 2026 before arriving on Netflix for Christmas.
