In its third weekend, Captain America: Brave New World continued to lead the box office, though it experienced a notable decline in earnings.
Captain America: Brave New World Faces Significant Drop
According to Box Office Mojo, Captain America: Brave New World secured the top spot with $15 million in its third weekend, marking a 46.8% decrease from the previous week. This substantial drop raises concerns about the film’s sustained appeal, especially given the mixed reviews it has received.
Last Breath Opens In Second

Debuting in second place, Focus Features’ Last Breath earned $7.8 million. Despite being a new entry, and surpassing expectations, it couldn’t surpass the established draw of Captain America: Brave New World. The thriller has garnered positive reviews, particularly for its suspenseful plot and strong performances, which may help it maintain momentum in the coming weeks. However, its niche appeal and lack of big-name stars could limit its overall box office potential compared to blockbuster competitors.
The Rest Of The Box Office
The Monkey held onto the third spot at the box office with $6.35 million, experiencing a 54.7% decline from its opening weekend. Paddington in Peru remained in fourth place, adding $4.5 million to its total box office revenue, a 30.8% drop from the prior week.
In its fifth weekend, Dog Man rounded out the top five with $4.2 million, reflecting a 28.3% decrease from the last weekend.
Next Week’s Predictions
The new major release next week is Mickey 17. The movie is targeting a $15 million to $20 million opening weekend at the box office.
The movie has been underperforming in South Korea, where it was expected to bring in a large majority of its revenue. Even North American tracking and projections have been revised regularly to reflect a lower number.
At this point, I could see it making even less, probably closer to $12 million. Which would likely still place it in first place.
As always,s we’ll find out next week.
