It is day two of this year’s CinemaCon, and we’ve had plenty of exciting announcements so far from studios such as Lionsgate and Sony. Kicking off with a sizzle reel of upcoming films such as Superman and F1, Warner Bros. gave us a more in-depth sneak peek of their upcoming slate, including films from New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Animation, and DC Studios.
Check out our recap of the Warner Bros. presentation below.
A MINECRAFT MOVIE
A hit for the kids, and possibly for the adults, the much-anticipated live-action adaptation of the popular video game was the first up on the evening’s slate, giving the room a refresher just days from its wide release.
From its press release: “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”
A Minecraft Movie comes out this Friday, April 3, 2025.
SINNERS

Ryan Coogler’s vampire period piece is certainly welcome amidst a sea of remakes and tentpole features.
From its press release: “Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Michael B. Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.”
Though Coogler was busy promoting the film for its upcoming April 18, 2025 release, he made sure to thank exhibitors and theatre owners via video.
ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER
Filmed in Vistavision, Paul Thomas Anderson’s dark comedy was introduced by cast members Leonardo DiCaprio, who said he wanted to work with Anderson for years, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor. CinemaCon attendees were shown an extended sneak peek.
From its press release: “When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own’s daughter.”
One Battle After Another releases September 26, 2025.
THE BRIDE

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jessie Buckley presented the upcoming horror film. Inspired by a Bride of Frankenstein tattoo she saw at a party, Gyllenhaal wanted something “hot and big,” and the tattoo was the genesis of her idea for the film. After seeing the original film, she became obsessed with the Bride and knew that was what she needed.
“We all have a little aspect of monsters in us,” Gyllenhaal said.
Buckley commented on the Bride’s relationship with Frankenstein’s Monster as “the most punk love ever” and “Very Wild At Heart and Sid and Nancy.”
CinemaCon goers were also treated to a sneak peek scene from the film, which Gyllenhaal said she wanted to see in “big, beautiful movie screens.”
Shot in IMAX, The Bride is coming to theatres March 6, 2026.
MORTAL KOMBAT 2
After showing a reel of what the last twenty years of New Line Cinema has been, they kicked off their portion of the presentation with Mortal Kombat 2, a clip of which was introduced by New Line President and CCO Richard Brener.
The sequel, which comes years after the first film’s pandemic release, promises “amazing fights, epic battles and a few fatalities,” according to Brener.
Mortal Kombat 2 comes out October 24, 2025.
THE CONJURING: LAST RITES
This will be, unfortunately, the last time we will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the demon-hunting Ed and Lorraine Warren, and it feels like the end of an era. We have come to love these characters and the evolution of the franchise, and it’s sad to say goodbye, but sometimes goodbyes are for the best.
From its summary: “Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.”
The Conjuring: Last Rites releases September 2025.
FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES
A clip was shown at the presentation of two brothers cheating death, or at least seemingly attempting to. Of course, we all know how that ends in these movies. Easily one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, Bloodlines will be the last installment in the Final Destination franchise, and it is sure to go out with a bang.
The plot summary for Bloodlines is as follows: Plagued by a recurring violent nightmare, a college student returns home to find the one person who can break the cycle and save her family from the horrific fate that inevitably awaits them.
Final Destination: Bloodlines releases May 16, 2025.
WEAPONS
Introduced by writer/director Zach Cregger, a clip of the upcoming horror film was shown. Though the plot of the film itself is top-secret, its clip certainly did not skimp on the tension and dread lovers of Barbarian have come to associate Cregger with.
According to its press release, Weapons is “An interrelated, multistory horror epic about the disappearance of high school students in a small town.”
Described by Cregger as a “twisty, turny movie,” Weapons will hit theatres August 8, 2025.
F1

Joesph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer stepped onstage for the Brad Pitt-led film, where the audience saw the first ten minutes of the racing epic, which has been described by Kosinski as the most realistic depiction of Formula 1 racing to be shown onscreen.
From its press release: “Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition — and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.”
Kosinski called it “this summer’s Top Gun: Maverick.”
Will he be correct? Stay tuned, because F1 premieres June 27, 2025.
CAT IN THE HAT
Bill Hader IS the Cat in the Hat! Honestly, this is incredibly exciting news. If anybody could fill Jim Carrey’s shoes, it would be him. Add in an animation style similar to that of Seuss’s books, and it seems like this film could be a hit among more than just the kids.
With the film expanding the story beyond the book, you know that it will have everything. Bill Hader appeared at CinemaCon to introduce the film, even showing his “audition.” Really, it was a clip from his Saturday Night Live performance, but who knows, that could have landed him the role. A trailer was also released for the audience.
Cat in the Hat releases February 2026.
SUPERMAN

Easily one of the most anticipated films of the year, if not one of the most talked-about, attendees were treated to an introduction of DC Studios by CEO James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran.
The cast of Superman, which included Rachel Brosnahan, Nicolas Hoult, and David Corenswet, took the stage after the introduction to talk about the film.
Corenswet said that his and Brosnahan’s test scene was a 10-page dialogue scene from the script. Gunn said he initially took The Suicide Squad over Superman because he knew it better, but then thought of a good idea for Superman later. They all gave props to the actors who took on the roles before them, with Brosnahan saying ““the titans that have come before us.” Corenswet also called it a “great honor” to get to play Superman.
Krypto was inspired by Gunn’s dog Ozu, he explained, which could amount to the sentimental feeling of the pup in the trailer. On the flip side, Gunn also said that the idea came to him in the form of “what if this dog had superpowers? I’d be fucked.” Many of us probably feel that way about our pets, so I get it.
And because I know we have all been curious: James Gunn stated that CinemaCon is much better than Comic Con.
Superman flies into theatres July 11, 2025.
