Day 4 of CinemaCon in Las Vegas kicked off with a presentation from Paramount Pictures. Paramount joins Sony, Lionsgate, Universal/Focus Features, Amazon MGM, and Warner Bros. Discovery so far in dropping news and sneak peeks at their upcoming film slate.

The presentation got an action-packed start, with a motorcycle stunt show on stage set to the Mission: Impossible theme. Attendees then saw a highlight video of Paramount’s 100+ years of filmmaking. Then, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins took the stage to kick off the presentation – even joking that Paramount planned to release four Paw Patrol movies – one for each dog – like the recently previewed Beatles biopics.

Check out a recap of all the major announcements from Paramount below.

The Naked Gun

Paramount unveiled a new look at The Naked Gun, which sees Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. following in his father’s footsteps.
Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world!

During CinemaCon, The Naked Gun revealed a new poster featuring Neeson doing the splits while flashing his gun and badge. The film also dropped a teaser trailer, which got strong laughs from the CinemaCon crowd. Oh, and they led into everything with someone giving a rippin’ sax solo on stage. Naturally.

The Naked Gun premieres in theaters August 1.

The Running Man

Director Edgar Wright took the stage to promote The Running Man, headed to theaters this November. Stars Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin also appeared. And for those curious, Powell’s dog Brisket (“the running boy”) also got a well-deserved shout-out.

The film follows a desperate man who participates in a violent reality show called The Running Man to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards as he is chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. The feature adapts Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name. The story previously received a film adaptation in 1987, with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring.

At CinemaCon, the cast revealed filming on the project wrapped last week. Then, they showcased some footage for the audience. Our CinemaCon team said this take looks much different than the ’87 film – a citywide game on planes, trains, and automobiles that shows off some serious violence.

Paramount Animation – Smurfs, Spongebob, Avatar & More

Next, Paramount teased its upcoming animated projects, which include Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem sequel, and the latest in the Smurfs franchise.

Smurfs debuted a trailer, which featured the voice of Nick Offerman as Papa Smurf’s brother. The footage showed 3D animated Smurfs, which then shifts to live action with the Smurfs in our world. The audience also saw a brief video message from Rihanna, who voices Smurfette.

The announcements included the official title reveal for the studio’s upcoming animated Avatar: The Last Airbender feature. It will be called The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

Tom Kenny and Mark Hamill appeared on stage for the next Spongebob movie, titled Search for Squarepants. The movie is described as a coming-of-age adventure where Spongebob wants to be a “big guy.” He then encounters a pirate ghost – the Flying Dutchman (Hamill). The CinemaCon audience saw a teaser clip.

Roofman

Channing Tatum joined the Paramount presentation to promote his new film, Roofman. His character robs a McDonalds by cutting holes in the roof (earning him the nickname “Roofman”). H gets arrested, and escapes prison, and hides out in a Toys ‘R Us.

The film also stars Kirsten Dunst, Ben Mendelsohn, Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba, Juno Temple, Emory Cohen, and LaKeith Stanfield. It premieres in theaters October 3.

Regretting You

Paramount’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You recently entered production. The film stars Allison Williams, Scott Eastwood, Mason Thames, and Mckenna Grace.

The original book’s story follows Morgan, a mother who puts her ambitions on hold to raise her teen daughter. But when a family tragedy puts more strain on their already complicated relationship, they must figure out how to navigate life together.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

You can’t have a major Paramount presentation without Mission: Impossible. And you can’t talk Mission: Impossible without the man himself, Tom Cruise. Cruise took the stage at CinemaCon for Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Cruise started by requesting a moment of silence from the crowd to honor the late Val Kilmer, his Top Gun co-star.

After that, Cruise brought out M:I writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. Cruise praised McQuarrie and shared stories from the set of M:I. McQuarrie is named CinemaCon’s director of the year.

Finally, Paramount played a new trailer for The Final Reckoning for the CinemaCon audience.
