CinemaCon continues in Las Vegas this week, with exciting presentations from the biggest studios in Hollywood. Today, Lionsgate teased a number of upcoming projects – including a lot of big news for John Wick fans.
Check out a full recap of the Lionsgate CinemaCon presentation below.
John Wick Animated Prequel Film

Get ready for John Wick like you’ve never seen him before. Lionsgate revealed plans for a John Wick animated film during CinemaCon. The movie will “go back in time to tell the story of John Wick before the first film, as he completes the Impossible Task—the killing of all of his rivals in one night—in order to free himself from his obligation to the High Table and earn the right to be with the love of his life, Helen.”
Keanu Reeves is expected to return to the franchise to lend his voice to the title character. The film comes from director Shannon Tindle, whose previous work includes the Annie-nominated Netflix film Ultraman: Rising, as well as the Oscar nominated Kubo and the Two Strings. The screenplay comes from Vanessa Taylor, writer and co-EP on Game of Thrones and Oscar nominee for The Shape of Water.
John Wick: Chapter 5
In addition to the animated prequel film, Lionsgate also revealed the (live action) John Wick Chapter 5 is currently in development.
“It’s so important to get this story right and give John’s story the proper next step,” said Thunder Road producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. “It’s exciting to take the first step on that road.”
Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson added, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.”
Donnie Yen Directing Caine Spinoff

The John Wick spinoff Ballerina hits theaters this summer, but the franchise is already looking ahead at another offshoot. CinemaCon revealed plans for a Caine-centric spinoff film. Martial arts legend Donnie Yen will reprise his role as the assassin. He will also step behind the camera as the film’s director.
“The John Wick films have set an immensely high standard for action filmmaking and I greatly appreciate Lionsgate giving me the opportunity to further elevate the franchise,” said Yen. “I am both thrilled and deeply inspired to make this happen.”
While the movie’s logline is being kept under wraps, the project will continue Caine’s story arc following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. Mattson Tomlin, writer of the upcoming The Batman Part II and the adaptation of the Keanu Reeves-created comic BRZRKR, will work on the film. Production begins in Hong Kong later this year.
Paul Feig First-Look Deal
Director/producer Paul Feig signed a first-look film producing deal with Lionsgate.
“From his breakthrough with Bridesmaids to his most recent movie The Housemaid, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Paul for 15 years,” said Fogelson. “His sense of character and story are among the best in the business—that’s why his movies are so relentlessly entertaining.” Paul and his producing partner Laura are a formidable team, and I’m delighted to be expanding our relationship.”
Feig’s film credits include Bridesmaids, A Simple Favor and the upcoming sequel Another Simple Favor, The School for Good and Evil, Ghostbusters (2016), Jackpot! and Spy. His next project, The Housemaid, is a Lionsgate thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

The tributes are being assembled. Lionsgate unveiled a logo tease for the next film in the Hunger Games universe. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping adapts Suzanne Collins’ prequel novel, which takes place during the 50th annual Hunger Games (aka a little over two decades before Katniss’ games). These games saw Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson in the films) emerge as the victor.
Billy Ray, who wrote the original 2012 Hunger Games screenplay, returns to the franchise to adapt Sunrise on the Reaping. The film will release November 20, 2026.
Stephen King’s The Long Walk
Lionsgate’s upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk officially landed a release date. It will premiere in theaters September 12.
The story takes place in the US in a dystopian future, where 100 teen boys must participate in a grueling walk across the country. Those who lag behind are shot and killed, until only one boy is left standing.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t

Fans of the Now You See Me movies are finally getting what they’ve asked for… By which I mean the third film in the heist franchise is officially being called Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. (Yes, it should have been the sequel title. But Lionsgate is making it happen now, ok?)
The feature sees the Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike, and Morgan Freeman. It will release in theaters November 14.
Now You See Me 4
Guess what? The magic tricks and heisting don’t stop there. Lionsgate revealed plans for a fourth Now You See Me feature during CinemaCon. Ruben Fleischer, director of the upcoming Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, will also direct this fourth installment.
“Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things—heist movies and magic—and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course I want to keep it going,” said Fleischer.
Fleischer’s directing credits include Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap, Venom, and Uncharted.
Hurry Up Tomorrow
Lionsgate dropped a second trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow during the presentation. The story follows a musician plagued by insomnia who embarks on a strange journey with a mysterious stranger. It stars Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd), Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan. The Weeknd also appeared in person to perform for the CinemaCon audience.
