Los Angeles got a heroic helping hand this Earth Day from an unexpected visitor, “Toxie,” the legendary Toxic Avenger himself. Best known for fighting crime and corruption in the cult-classic Troma films, the mutant mop-wielding hero took his talents to the streets of LA to battle a different kind of villain: pollution.
In honor of Earth Day 2025, Toxie rolled up his radioactive sleeves and teamed up with local volunteers. The crew got together for a citywide cleanup effort. Trading monster battles for litter pickers, he joined dozens of Angelenos collecting trash from parks, sidewalks, and public spaces across the city.
“Toxie may have started as a cult movie icon, but he’s always stood for justice in the weirdest, wildest way,” said one event organizer. “Now he’s fighting for the planet—and we love him for it.”
With his signature deformed charm and a surprising knack for environmental advocacy, Toxie wasn’t just posing for photos, he was working hard, hauling bags of garbage and encouraging others to do the same. His presence brought a burst of energy and nostalgia to the event. He helped draw attention not only to the importance of keeping our communities clean, but also to the power of turning passion into action.
THE TOXIC AVENGER 2025
The long-awaited reboot of The Toxic Avenger is hitting theaters on August 29, 2025. Directed by Macon Blair, this bold reimagining of the 1984 cult classic puts a new spin on the story, with Peter Dinklage starring as Winston Gooze. Winston is a humble janitor who becomes a grotesque yet heroic mutant after a freak chemical accident.
The film boasts an all-star cast including Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Julia Davis, and Taylour Paige, promising a wild ride packed with dark humor, over-the-top action, and plenty of gooey justice.
