Sneaks is a 2025 animated comedy that mixes adventure, emotion, and a deep love for sneaker culture. Co-directed by Rob Edwards (The Princess and the Frog, Treasure Planet) and Chris Jenkins (Surf’s Up, Home), the story centers on Ty (Anthony Mackie). Ty is a luxury designer sneaker who’s lived his whole life tucked away in a velvet-lined box. But when a mysterious collector snatches his sister, Maxine (Chloe Bailey), Ty is forced to leave his plush world behind and journey through the fast-paced streets of New York City to save her. On his journey, Ty learns that it is okay to get out of your comfort zone, earn a few battle scars, and make friends from all walks of life.

Sneaks is about what it’s like to be a kid with dreams, as well as adults who need to be reminded that it’s our job to support these kids. Because we remember what that was like. Our shortcomings should not affect the new generation. While watching the film, it’s a good reminder that it’s okay to meet people who are different than you. It’s okay to explore new places. And it’s definitely okay to just be a good person and support others. At the end of the day, being a bad person doesn’t get you anywhere in life. As they say, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

The animation style is reminiscent of classic mid-2000s films like Open Season. It doesn’t chase the hyper-polished, ultra-smooth aesthetic of some modern animated movies. Instead, it leans into a style that feels warm, slightly rugged, and full of charm. The original soundtrack is crafted by none other than hitmaker Mustard. The theme song is fantastic. It’s the kind of earworm anthem that makes you feel unstoppable. Making the listener feel like you can take on the world, all you need is to put on your favorite kicks.
