The Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison was rumored to have been offered a part in the upcoming Star Wars movie from Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling. Well, it turns out those rumors were true, but the finished product isn’t going to have Mikey Madison in it. According to Variety, she was offered a part but turned the role down.
Jonathan Tripper has been writing the script for the film, which will star Ryan Gosling. Levy reunites with The Adam Project screenwriter for one of the few Star Wars movies that seems to have made it out of the development phase. They have been developing the project since late 2022 and they’re producing alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
There aren’t many details about the film out yet, but it’s said to not have anything to do with the Skywalker Saga. It’ll be its own standalone thing in the Star Wars universe. The Skywalker Saga concluded with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, but Disney is heading back to the sequel trilogy for new movies with a movie based on the New Jedi Order with Rey coming down the pipeline. That’s really all we know about the film for now.
The only other Star Wars film that is close to release is the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is based on the series The Mandalorian and its spinoffs. That movie is the only Star Wars film to have a release date in over five years, coming out in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
Who Is Mikey Madison?

Madison starred in the Best Picture-winning Anora in 2024. She won the Oscar for Best Actress at the ceremony as well. She’s one of the hottest names in Hollywood because of the success of that film. That’s led her to a place where she can be really choosy with her roles from now on. She’s also appeared in the FX series Better Things and the films Scream (2022) and Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood. We’ll have to see what project she picks up next, but she should be very in demand from every studio in the industry.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 is going on this weekend in Japan. We’ll surely get some news about the upcoming slate of movies and TV at the event.
