Do you remember when Network Television used to be king? Everyone couldn’t wait to get home and watch their stories week to week watching their favorite characters’ drama unfold. It was the age of Desperate Housewives, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, and early Grey’s Anatomy. You could pick your favorite character that you relate to the most or wish you were more like. You’d root for them, cry with them, and learn how to burn it all down when necessary. These shows and characters were your family that you could gossip about with your friends. Sadly, shows like this went to the wayside, until now. Grosse Pointe Garden Society embraces a time of television that was lost in the best way.
NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society is based in the affluent Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. There we meet our four members of a garden club who become entangled in a murder mystery. As they try to cover their tracks, viewers also get to enjoy watching them struggle to maintain their not-so-perfect lives.
Melissa Fumero and Ben Rappaport play Birdie and Brett. Birdie is the outspoken, confident fish out of water with a huge secret. Brett is going through a divorce after catching his wife in the midst of an affair.
