To say that the Bosch franchise has been a success for Prime Video, would be an understatement. The original series ran for 6 seasons, followed by now 3 seasons of Legacy. Given the audience and critical acclaim the series has had over the years, it came as a shock to fans when it was announced that Season 3 would be the final for Legacy. The series’ cancellation has led to a fan petition in an attempt to save the show, but all signs currently point to this being the end of the road. The final season of Bosch: Legacy will premiere with the first 4 episodes on March 27th. Thanks to Prime Video, I was able to review the premiere episodes of the new season. Keep reading to get my full thoughts on Season 3 of Bosch: Legacy.

Two Boschs Are Better Than One

Titus Welliver continues to absolutely own the role of Hieronymous “Harry” Bosch. The final season is no different, and Welliver is once again fantastic as the titular Detective turned Private Investigator. He continues to bring a quiet intensity and relentless drive that makes the character so compelling. After playing the character for 10 years across both the original series and Legacy, Welliver has refined Bosch into easily one of the best police characters on TV. Being a father has always been a critical component of the Harry Bosch.

Maddie Bosch has been a key presence since the original Bosch series premiered in 2015, but Bosch: Legacy has given the character a real opportunity to shine. Madison Lintz delivers a standout performance this season, solidifying Maddie as one of the most compelling parts of the series. What began as a supporting role has evolved into something much richer, with Maddie carving out her own path and proving she’s just as principled and driven as her father. Lintz brings a compelling blend of vulnerability, strength, and quiet determination to the role, making Maddie feel fully realized and authentic. Watching Maddie grow over the years has been one of the show’s most rewarding arcs, and by now, she’s just as essential to the heart of the series as Bosch himself.

Lots Of Irons In The Fire

Both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have always excelled at juggling multiple storylines, and Season 3 continues that tradition with confidence and skill. The premiere episodes waste no time kicking several plot threads into motion for Harry, Maddie, and Honey Chandler, each facing their own set of challenges. Fans will no doubt remember the Season 2 cliffhanger involving Dockweiler and the lingering question of Harry’s potential involvement in his death. While the season does jump ahead a few months at the beginning, that unresolved thread still hangs heavily over the story.

f that weren’t enough, Honey Chandler, now running for District Attorney, has her own set of complications that pull Harry into even more trouble. As usual, the Bosches (both of them) have a full plate of challenges and drama to navigate. Without getting into spoilers, I’ll just say the writing team does an excellent job balancing screen time and narrative weight across the different storylines. It’s a tightly paced, well-crafted season that keeps you engaged from start to finish and is as compelling as anything the series has done.

Final Thoughts

Bosch has been one of my favorite shows over the past decade, and without a doubt, one of Prime Video’s standout originals. I won’t pretend I’m not disappointed by the news that Bosch: Legacy will end after Season 3. It’s tough to see a show of this caliber wrap up, especially when it feels like there’s still so much story left to tell.

That said, Season 3 is off to a strong start, and I fully expect the remaining episodes to continue delivering the high-quality, character-driven storytelling the series is known for. Still, part of me wishes the creative team had known ahead of time that this would be the final season, if only to give Harry Bosch, and the fans, a proper send-off worthy of one of the most compelling characters in the last decade.

But if there’s a silver lining in the uncertainty, it’s this: With no definitive conclusion, the door remains open. Whether it’s a future movie, a limited series, or another spin-off, there’s always hope that we haven’t seen the last of Bosch. And frankly, a character and world this rich deserve the chance to return. Until then, I’ll be savoring every minute of this final season.
