Tyler Perry’s Duplicity begins streaming on Prime Video this week, and two of the film’s stars sat down with That Hashtag Show to discuss this thriller. Kat Graham and Megan Tandy clearly had a ball making Tyler Perry’s Duplicity. They told THS that the multi-dimensional view of this police thriller was something that sparked a lot of reflection for both of them.
“As a person, I used to think things were very black and white,” Graham said of her character Marley’s quest for justice. “Then you go through loss. You deal with grief and betrayal. You lose people. It can be so multidimensional and confusing. You’re just trying to find your way and the truth. I think that’s the reality! Things are not just black and white… There are a lot of layers. The good thing about Tyler Perry is that he put all of them in there.”
For Tandy, she plays Fela. Her husband is shot by a police officer, and she endures the worst day of her life in the public eye. “[Fela] is a former beauty queen. Considering that’s something I’ve done in my life for a little blip. That’s a part of it. You have to get up on that stage and smile. She’s also a newscaster. That’s a profession where you’re always putting on. As long as that’s the driving force and you’re remembering that as you’re performing the character. That’s why she’s looking tippity top while she’s mourning.”
Tyler Perry’s Duplicity Stars RonReaco Lee & Tyler Lepley Spill

Those two lovely ladies aren’t the only stars of the film. Tyler Lepley and RonReaco Lee also stopped by to talk with That Hashtag Show. Both men are playing super complicated characters in the thriller. Tyler Perry’s Duplicity presented some unique acting challenges for Lepley and Lee.
THS previously spoke to Tyler Lepley during the final season of Harlem, and his character here couldn’t be more different. “My character is definitely someone who understands that what he’s doing is not right. But, I think that his objective and what he’s after is so clear. When we get to things that we’re chasing like money, fame or respect, you know primal wants? A lot of times, your morals go out the window. That is why I think he was able to shed so many of those morals to the tail end of this story.
For Lee, this is a bit more of an antagonistic role than you might expect from him. But, Tyler Perry thought he was perfect for the role. He’s definitely keeping you guessing all along the way.
“I think I’m at that point where i welcome the challenge! I’m thankful that Mr. Perry sees it in me,” Lee told us. “I know you’re great, I’m not worried about you. This is someone who has seen a million actors. Good actors, bad actors, he’s seen it all. For him to say, ‘I know you’re gonna be good. I trust you.’ Putting us together. Great people. I’ve yet to have him put it together and be like, this isn’t going to work. It always works.”
