Rom-coms are a staple genre in film, but for many years they weren’t very inclusive, at least mainstream. As times have changed, however, we have seen more diversity pop up. Things Like This is one of those films, a wonderfully funny and touching story about finding love when you least expect it, and how scary love actually is. It isn’t easy, and it isn’t always fun, and Things Like This isn’t afraid to linger on those issues.
We were lucky enough to be able to sit down with writer/director/star Max Talisman to talk all things queer love, fate, and how much it means to have films like this out in the world now.
Things Like This follows Zack Anthony (Talisman), a struggling writer, and Zack Mandel, a talent agent assistant trapped in a failing relationship, meet by chance. As they continue to spend more time together, they uncover a shared past that feels a lot like fate.
