We are well into “Daredevil: Born Again” from Marvel Television, streaming on Disney+. The series has reinvigorated a Marvel fan base that fell in love with the gritty, dark, grounded storytelling that was introduced to us in the Netflix series back in 2015. Now ten years later, the series proved within the first 15 minutes that the stakes have never been higher.
A CHAT WITH THE COMPOSERS, THE NEWTON BROTHERS
With the weekly release of “Daredevil: Born Again” I spoke with the composers of the series, the Newton Brothers. They have worked on other huge franchise projects including “Five Nights At Freddy’s”, “X-Men ’97”, and “The Haunting of Bly Manor”.
During our conversation we talked about their process in working on an established franchise that needed to connect with audience on a nostalgic level, while also conveying a new modern direction. They shared with me how they work specific music and sounds to specific characters and how the theme of the series is intertwined with so much of what you hear during the episodes. They also talk about how they picked the music for that huge moment in the beginning of the first episode. It was a great conversation that you can check out below!
