Wizards Beyond Waverly Place just got renewed for Season 2 on Disney Channel. The company announced that the Russos will return for more adventures. David Henrie has starred in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and has been elated to see the fan support from viewers young and old. Production on Season 2 gets rolling next month in Los Angeles.
“I’m overwhelmed by all the love for the series and ready to keep serving this new generation of ‘Wizards’ fans with more Russo magic, while continuing to deliver a big warm hug to the original fan!,” Henrie said in a statement. “So many surprises in store for this second season. It’s going to be big, so stay tuned!”

Disney reports that Wizards Beyond Waverly Place was the most-watched series premiere in Disney+ history for a Disney Channel Original Series. 3.2 million wizards fans flooded into the service in the first 12 days of the show’s premiere. Over on YouTube, the first episode racked up 2.3 million views.
Social media returns seem to be trending well too. There have been 23 million engagements across different platforms. (Places like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.) The Wizards Beyond Waverly Place fans have been super supportive of the sequel series and executive producers Selena Gomez and David Henrie.
What Is Wizards Beyond Waverly Place About?
Disney describes the series: “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.”
