When it comes to moments in comic book history, one that stands out was when seven comic book creators came together to form a Image Comics. A place where comic creators could publish their own creations and keep the rights to their work. One of those founders is the Deadpool creators himself, Rob Liefeld. His title, “Youngblood” was the first comic book released under the brand 33 years ago.

Now to celebrate the formation of Image Comics’, the iconic title returns with Liefeld at the helm with the premium premiere of “Youngblood #1”. A brand new 33-page comic with a brand new story. This will only be available through his webstore at RobLiefeldcreations.com. This will be the first time in 16 years that Liefeld has drawn and written a new story for “Youngblood”.

Along with the web release, Liefeld will also be making this book available with an exclusive cover at Hollywood’s famed Golden Apple on Wednesday, April 16th, where all comics bought from this event will come with a free signature. Liefeld will also be there for a signing as part of the event.

With the upcoming release of “Youngblood” #1 and the event in Hollywood, we spoke with Liefeld about the book. Liefeld talks to us about some of the history of “Youngblood” and why it means so much for him. He talks about the importance of creator-owned books and how his new books differ from others in the market. It was a fantastic conversation that you can check out below!
