For some, one of the best parts of collecting is finding that diamond in the rough. From limited pieces to chases, Funko is one of those companies that people enjoy the hunt for. To me, one of the best items for these finds is the Funko Soda line. Unlike their Pop! figures you don’t know what you have until you open that can. But as new releases are revealed, it seems that the Soda line is being phased out, and I think this is a big mistake for Funko and a blow to collectors like me who feel like they still have a chance for a chase.

The Fun Of The Funko Soda Hunt
Some may wonder why I care so much about this to do a write-up. Well, it is simple: I have had more fun hunting down Funko Soda chases than any other chase out there. There is just something special about cracking open that soda and seeing that chase disc at the bottom of the can. From Star Wars and Marvel to cartoons and Funko mascots, I have opened hundreds of soda cans looking for those chases. Do I hit every time? Of course not, but each time I hunt for one, the suspense is still there. It is fun not knowing what you have until you open it up. It is not just mew who thinks this also. I am in many Funko social media groups, and you see it posted many times when people are excited about the chase

So What Is Going On With The Soda Line?
What is going on with the Soda line? Well, that is the million-dollar question. For the past few years, the soda line has been cranking. We were getting both limited-run and regular sodas. We would see them at conventions like Star Wars Celebration, C2E2, NYCC, etc. Hell, my first ever chase and the Soda that got me hooked was the Star Wars Celebration Boba Fett exclusive. But now we have not seen a new release for a while. I believe that the last couple were the Stranger Things six-pack and Art the Clown. Now, Soda fans are left in limbo as we wait to see what the future of this line holds.

So, Funko, if anyone is listening, please save the soda line. It is the thrill of the hunt and not knowing what you have that makes it so fun. Is there an answer to make this line more successful? I think there is. First, let’s keep them all to a limited count, and once they are gone, they are gone. Next, I would just limit the product to comic shops and conventions. I say this because comic shops can maintain them better and keep customers from opening them. Unfortunately, we see that a lot in stores like Target and Wal Mart. Finally, just keep it fun. Keep releasing many different franchises and Funko-released pieces; you will always have collectors. Oh yeah, I just about forgot the most important thing: Please keep them a mystery. Not having a sticker on them makes the hunt a lot more fun.
