One Piece is, without a doubt, one of the most popular anime series in the world right now. It’s really no surprise if you’re even vaguely familiar with the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. His combination of heartwarming characters, silly antics, and action-packed drama has made the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates such a pleasure to follow over the years. It’s no wonder why the anime has been mainstream ever since it made its debut all the way back in October 20, 1999.

And yet, even One Piece isn’t immune to production woes. As regular viewers know, the anime went on hiatus back in October 2024 purely just to give the animators at Toei Animation time to draw up new scenes just to keep up with the demand. Fortunately, Crunchyroll have recently revealed that the anime is going off of hiatus very soon. How soon, you might ask? Well, according to Crunchyroll, the simulcast will start back up on April 5, 2025. That’s only a little over a week from now at the time of this writing, so you won’t have long to wait.

Even better though, Crunchyroll has just revealed that we’re getting not one, but two episodes of One Piece when that simulcast starts back up in North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Latin America. Yeah, that’s right. The weekend of April 5-6, 2025 will feature a double episode premiere to make up for the hiatus. Plus, there will also be an 83-minute Egghead Arc Part-1 Recap Special on April 5 to let viewers catch back on what happened. Not that most fans will need it, but it’s there if you want to see it. Naturally, you can watch it on Crunchyroll, but you can also do so on Hulu and Netflix.

You can already tell that things are going to get heated in this key art.

Well, it’s certainly a sign of how much Toei Animation want everyone to see their finished product that they’re giving us a double episode premiere. I would probably say that it’s about time too. One Piece has been on hiatus for a little over 5 months now. It will definitely be great to see how the Straw Hat Pirates are doing. Heck, it will be great to see how Koby is doing given where the anime left off on when the hiatus started.
