That Hashtag Show had the luxury of being in a recent screening of this thriller. Our Junior Felix had a blast with Drop. He credited Christopher Landon for crafting all the tension in the air. Some viewers might enjoy the frustration of this winding road. Perfect date film too.
The Amateur – in Theaters Friday

Rami Malek is a man who just got pushed too far. Spycraft and wild tech traps are here in generous supply for The Amateur. After being wronged, Malek’s analyst is pressed into the field. Once he’s out, Laurence Fishburne is brought in to stop him before he goes too far. If you love this kind of espionage action title, it could be a good time.

Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon – In Theaters Sunday
If you’re lucky enough to live near a screening of this high-octane anime film, it’s probably worth your time! One of the big hits from Crunchroll’s recent releases follows an elite strike team tasked with taking down kaiju. The fights are absolutely exquisite and will be even better on a bigger screen. Plus, some morsels for fans looking for what happens next in the story after Season 1.
Black Mirror Season 7 – Streaming on Netflix
With our real world looking more strange than ever, no one is envying the task in front of Charlie Brooker and the Black Mirror crew. How in the world do you top what comes out of the paper daily? Well, following up the USS Callister episode of Black Mirror is probably a good start. Netflix fans, file right on in.
In The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox – Streaming on Netflix
Baseball season is here at long last. That means Netflix has an 8-part docuseries to slide right into. Ever wondered what a 162-game season really feels like? The Clubhouse pulls back the curtain for you to get some perspective on that long grind. As with a lot of these documentary series, having a venerated franchise only adds to the appeal here.
The Handmaid’s Tale – Streaming on Hulu
A series finale can be a tricky thing. For a long-running show like The Handmaid’s Tale, it’s even more precarious. It’s no secret that the creative team wants to end things with a bang. But, with Season 6, the fate of Gilead will be decided. Get those keyboard fingers ready for this one.
The Last of Us – Streaming on Max

Speaking of contents under pressure. The Last of Us returns to our screens and fans have been both anticipating and dreading its return. Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie helped define the cultural swing towards video game adaptations. But, as most fans can barely say, this season promises to be shocking for TV-only viewers.
Hacks Season 4 – Streaming on Max
Jean Smart is back on our TVs in this critic-favorite series. (Look at this season’s Max lineup and you have to respect the heater they’re on.) 10 episode following Deborah Vance and the ticking time bomb of her working relationships. This is just good television and Smart is operating on premium fuel in Hacks. Indulge a bit!
G20 – Streaming on Prime Video
A big action movie, yeah sure! One with Viola Davis as President of the United States? Go on… After the G20 Summit goes off the rails, it’s up to Madame President to really throw down and do some gunplay. Davis is clearly having a blast here and elevates the material. Sometimes you just want a fun action flick and G20 gives that to you in spades.
Yellowjackets Season Finale – Streaming on Paramount+
All this other peak TV fare might have made some forget about little old Yellowjackets. But, never fear! The Paramount+ show is back to remind fans that it still has the goods. The drama is juicy. One cold snap seems to have thawed, but what terrible secrets are under that ice. It’s just as gripping as anything further up on this list!
