Another big weekend in theaters and on the couch for everyone! That Hashtag Show has a guide to what we’re watching this weekend. A couple of big releases in theaters for you this week as we creep closer to the warmer days. Over on the TV side of things, we’ve got all kinds of madness for you to obsess over as well! Let’s get right to it!
Severance – Streaming on Apple TV+

Okay, so we’ve come to the end of another season of Severance. This one was more mind-blowing than the last. One quick look at your FYP’s will tell you that the fans are loving what Ben Stiller has been doing this season on the most-talked about show on TV. If you don’t have Apple TV+, this one would at least justify taking a trial and setting a reminder on your phone. There’s so many twists and turns. You can never truly know where we’re headed. People are saying they wish all TV was like this, and they’re not completely wrong.
Disney’s Snow White – In Theaters
This movie is finally out. Thank goodness we can just watch Disney’s Snow White without all the extra discussion. If you go into the theater with your family and expect a remake of the 1938 classic, that’s pretty much what’s on the menu here. There are delightful songs, great singing by Rachel Zegler, and more cute CGI animals than you can shake a broomstick at. Seeing as how the original movie is only about an hour long, there’s even a bit more added to the story. (See a couple of new original songs and a little more action than the animated version.) Go into it with an open mind. The young ones in our screening really loved it.
Tyler Perry’s Duplicity- Streaming on Prime Video

Duplicity is a thriller with a very topical central mystery. Kat Graham stars as Marley Wells, a lawyer charged with getting to the bottom of how and why her friend’s husband got murdered. Meagan Tandy plays Fela Blackburn, the friend in question. There are some twists and turns and a lingering undercurrent of menace in Tyler Perry’s latest release. If you enjoyed Divorce in the Black, (Let’s be real, a TON of people really locked-in for that one. It’s the most-watched movie release in Prime Video history.), then you’re going to be riveted by Tyler Perry’s Duplicity.
Ash – Now in Theaters
Flying Lotus brings us a unique vision of sci-fi Horror. Aaron Paul and Eiza Gonzalez star in the unique and scary world of Ash. Flylo also provides the composition for the film, so that’s an added reason to check this one out. Fans of the genre are going to be excited to see what would happen if you made Dead Space or Returnal into a full-length movie rather than a video game.Riya is trapped on a distant planet and Brion comes to her aid, or does he…? It’s a mystery where the viewer gets information about how Riya ended up on this station along with the characters in question. A wild ride to be sure.
Daredevil: Born Again – Streaming on Disney+

We’re now a few weeks into the new Daredevil era and there’s been multiple standout entries in Charlie Cox’s move to Disney+. This week, longtime fans get to see Jon Bernthal added back into the mix. The results are explosive emotionally and include a scene our site called an instant high-water mark for the MCU. If you’re not watching Daredevil by now, and you have any interest in the concept at all, what are we really doing here. Episode 4 is everything superhero fans say they want from the genre.
O’dessa – Streaming on Hulu
Sadie Sink has been in the news a lot this week for some Marvel rumors. But, we shouldn’t let that overshadow her totally rad rock opera over on Hulu. Musicals are all over the place now. (Heck, this is the second one on the list this week!) But, style is literally dripping from O’Dessa. Kelvin Harrison Jr. takes a break from charming us in the Pridelands to play a supporting role here. If you’re looking for music of the less “princess song” variety, then you’re going to be pleased.
The Residence – Streaming on Netflix
A murder mystery starring Uzo Aduba? Count us in. A police detective in Washington D.C. has to figure out what happened to a White House staffer. Paul William Davies steps back into the political realm after writing and producing Scandal. (So, he’s got a great handle on the whole White House thing by now!) Surprisingly, things can get a bit comical for Cordelia Cupp as she tracks down justice in this Netflix entry.
Be@rbrick – Streaming on Apple TV+
Meghan McCarthy returns to the world of family programming with Be@rbrick. The Medicom vinyl figures that adorn the sheves of many sneakerheads serve as inspiration for a story about carving your own path and not painting inside the lines. For the older folks watching, Timbaland provides the music for the series. (A sentence that I never thought I would write, but one that leaves the world in a better place!) The Brushstrokes are out to make a statement and help their neighbors feel a bit more free.
Happy Face – Streaming on Paramount+
True Crime fans, this one is for you. Dennis Quaid and Annaleigh Ashford star in this twisty series. Podcast listeners should also lean-in because this is an adaptation about the hit show Shattered Silence. (There’s a book about Melissa Moore, our protagonist, as well for the people out there that like to read their true crime stories.) Ashford plays Moor and has to figure out if an innocent man will go to jail for crimes her father (Quaid) committed while being a serial killer called Happy Face. It’s wild and chilling.
Asian Persuasion – Playing in Theaters

Crowd-favorite Dante Basco stars in this comedy drama for grown-ups. His character, Mickey, is a frustrated chef who gets divorced from his wife Avery. Their split is complicated by alimony payments that the chef can’t really handle. He hatches a scheme to get his wife remarried. But, what happens when feelings creep back into the frame? K.C. Concepcion is a delight as Mickey’s wife Avery. Equal parts funny and meditative, this is a great pick for something without explosions this week.
