Is Star Wars going the route of the MCU? Perhaps, according to a recent report that says Disney is putting together several Disney+ Star Wars shows with characters that will cross over into each other’s storylines. The productions will supposedly be part of the overall Star Wars canon in one, united Star Wars Universe.
It appears that the programming list will be similar to the Netflix Marvel series.
That saw a story-bridge enabling characters to intersect with characters from other shows. Those characters were also influenced by the critical developments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. LRM Online is responsible for the Star Wars report.
According to the site, Disney will start launching one new season of a show each quarter starting in the middle of 2021. Plot developments of The Mandalorian, a Boba Fett show, an Ahsoka Tano show, an Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn show and an additional, yet-named show will connect.
The site also reports that Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni will manage the Disney+ Star Wars Universe.
While it’s tough to decide how true this report is, it makes sense. The Mandalorian is full speed ahead. Its third season is already in development months before the second even begins. Ahsoka Tano should make an appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian. (She’s also reportedly getting her own show.) Likewise, Boba Fett should also make an appearance in Season Two. Since he’s a favorite among fans, he probably would be on Disney+ more than once.
If the rumor is true, I am ecstatic.
Michael “Shockey” Connally said it well on LRM:
“Instead of making one epic Game of Thrones show, it’d be like if each family had their own show with a central storyline that spills over into the others,” Connally said.
That sounds highly intriguing, to say the least.
Filoni would also be the perfect choice to oversee such a complex series of productions.
He is the one who successfully brought Star Wars to television.
Do you think this rumor is true? Do you think we are really getting an interconnected, live-action Star Wars universe? What do you think about Filoni reportedly being in charge? Comment below!
