It seems that the highly successful Mission Impossible series has become yet another casualty of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic Hollywood has been under lockdown, and theaters have been shut down. Movies scheduled for immediate release, and movies not scheduled to be released for months from now have both been delayed. Now the delays are striking at movies that haven’t even begun filming.
Paramount officially announced today that the untitled Mission Impossible 7 and 8 will be delayed. The latest in the long-running Mission Impossible franchise, the two movies were scheduled to begin principal photography in Italy in June. With Italy being one of the hardest-hit countries, this is now impossible. Forcing the production to be pushed back.
Mission Impossible New Dates
According to Paramount Mission Impossible 7 was scheduled for release on July 21st, 2021. Now the movie has been pushed back to November 19th, 2021. Meanwhile, Mission Impossible 8, which was scheduled for a release date of August 5th, 2022. Has been pushed back to November 4th, 2022.
The Unfortunate Delay Snowball
The fact Mission Impossible was not even scheduled to begin principal filming until late June, yet it is being pushed back shows the snowball effect of the ongoing pandemic. It is not just new movies that are going to be delayed. All filming that requires live actors, or requires being filmed on location in certain areas of the world. While not the first movie not scheduled for a much later release to be delayed due to the current pandemic. However, it is one of the most far-out movies in terms of changed release date, and likely won’t be the last. As the virus lasts more and more films and shows will have to be pushed further and further back.
