[Warning: Article could contain spoilers to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.] Veteran Star Wars actor Anthony Daniels just releases a memoir of sorts chronicling his portrayal of beloved droid C-3PO. Daniels, of course, has played the iconic character since the opening scenes of the original Star Wars back in 1977. He can even boast the first spoken dialogue in the entire franchise. It’s something he said in the book about The Rise of Skywalker, however, that’s peaked peoples’ attention.
Despite numerous “leaks” and rumors, true details about the final installment of the Skywalker saga have been scarce. The most recent trailer, though, shows new character Babu Frik performing work on C-3PO. “Goldenrod” then ominously tells us that he’s taking one last look at his friends. Anthony Daniels may have now given us some insight into what happens either leading up, to or occurring after that scene.
C-3PO actor provides Episode IX details
In his book, Inverse tells us, Daniels talks about a scene he shares with Star Wars newcomer Keri Russell. What we learn seems to confirm that we will be seeing quite a bit more of the Knights of Ren, after all:
During a scene where the team flees from the Knights of Ren down narrow cobbled streets, he bonded with Keri Russell over having uncomfy costumes.”

Everything thus far has pointed to Zorri Bliss (Russell) meeting up with old pal Poe, C-3PO and the gang on the cold word of Kijimi. Now it seems like the Knights of Ren will have pursued our heroes there…. For what purpose, though, remains a mystery.
In promo photos we see Zorri Bliss holding a disk that just happens to look very similar to the data disk in the back of Threepio’s head. We’ve heard before that C-3PO may be reprogrammed in order to retrieve information that Kylo Ren seeks. If we now know that the Knights of Ren have chased the droid and his compatriots to the Thieves’ Quarter on Kijimi….
We’ll find out what happens with C-3PO for sure in a little over four weeks. The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters December 20.
