Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson Still Want A-Force Movie

Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson are still pushing for Marvel to assemble their female heroes for an A-Force movie.

During a panel at ACE Comic Con recently, both Larson and Thompson spoke about their wishes for an all-female MCU project. Thompson said, “I want to work together as a team, us women doing things, in a film or two.”

However, Larson believes that it’s the fans that could help convince the powers that be. “The more people talk about it, are behind it and interested in it, the more likely it is to happen,” said Larson.

The A-Force comics debuted in 2015 and featured Marvel’s first all-female team of Avengers.

Buzz of a possible A-Force film cropped up after female MCU cast members approached Kevin Feige about making the project happen. The idea has proven so popular that Marvel gave it a slight homage in Endgame. The “She’s Got Help” scene brought together every single female Avenger. Many speculated that this was Marvel’s way of gauging audience interest for an A-Force film.

Bringing A-Force to the MCU

Larson and Thompson backing an A-Force project is quite an endorsement. After all, both actresses play characters who represent the new guard of the MCU.

Larson plays Captain Marvel, arguably the most powerful character in the MCU. (She’s also Marvel’s first female hero to headline her own solo film.) Thompson plays Valkyrie, the new ruler of Asgard.

Ever since Phase 1, Marvel has made a conscious push towards a gender equal lineup. Adding an all-female Avengers film to the slate, either as a theatrical release or a Disney+ project, would be a natural inclusive step.
