The Internet is full of surveys asking fans this question: If you could have any ship from Star Wars, which one would you choose? Inevitably, the top three almost always come down to the Millennium Falcon, an X-wing fighter, and an Imperial Star Destroyer. Well, now’s your chance to own another of those ships, in model form, at least. Behold, the LEGO Star Destroyer!
The Ultimate Collector Series LEGO model is gargantuan, even without the included display stand. The piece is over three and a half feet long, over two feet wide, and stands over a foot tall. (It’s nearly a foot and half tall with the stand and accompanying informational plaque.) Here’s the kicker: This LEGO Star Destroyer contains 4,784 individual pieces! By comparison, the LEGO Death Star only has a little over 4,000 pieces. It’s definitely one of the larger LEGO Star Wars sets out there.
Lego Star Destroyer Impresses
This isn’t just any Imperial star cruiser, however. This particular model just happens to be the Devastator. For those unfamiliar, the Devastator was Darth Vader’s flagship before moving to the Super Star Destroyer Executor. It can be seen at the beginning of the original Star Wars chasing down the Tantive IV. As a bonus, this LEGO Star Destroyer even comes with a scaled model of the Tantive IV, as well!
Here’s the full description of the set from LEGO:
Build and display an icon of the Galactic Empire – the Devastator. With over 4,700 LEGO® pieces, this Ultimate Collector Series 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer model captures all the authentic details of the starship as it appeared in the opening scene of Star Wars: A New Hope, including swiveling guns, a tilting radar dish, huge engine exhausts, intricate surface detailing and of course a buildable scale version of the Rebels’ Tantive IV starship to chase down. This galactic civil war UCS set also includes a display stand with informational fact plaque and 2 Imperial minifigures, making it the perfect LEGO Star Wars collectible for discerning fans.”
This LEGO Star Destroyer set is certainly impressive, but it’s not for the faint-of-heart LEGO builder. At 4,784 pieces, construction is sure to be challenging. It won’t be cheap, either. The set will retail for $699.99.
It arrives October 1, 2019.
