Another day, another murder – and another star. Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building series just added a new name for its upcoming fifth season: Keegan-Michael Key.
Unsurprisingly, the storylines for the new season remain under wraps. So, we don’t yet know who Key will play in the show. (Or indeed, if he will play a character at all – several season 4 OMITB stars appeared on the series as themselves.) However, Deadline reports Key will appear in season 5 in a recurring role. So, whoever he may be in the Only Murders universe, he’ll pop up as more than just a celebrity cameo.
Production on season 5 of Only Murders in the Building began earlier this week. The show’s four series regulars – Steve Martin (Charles), Martin Short (Oliver), Selena Gomez (Mabel), and Michael Cyril Creighton (Howard) – will all reprise their roles.
As revealed at the end of the show’s fourth season, the gang will find themselves investigating the murder of the Arconia’s doorman, Lester.
To date, Only Murders in the Building has brought home seven Emmy Awards. The series also received its first SAG Award last month for Comedy Series Ensemble.
Season 4’s guest stars included Meryl Streep, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, and Molly Shannon.
Key recently lent his voice to the films Transformers One, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and IF. His recent TV appearances include guest spots on Abbott Elementary and Elsbeth.
