It’s not news that Marvel Studios is looking at actors for the role of Nova in the MCU. It is news however, that a certain actor is ready to take on the role if need be. Xolo Maridueña was at the Saturn Awards and THS got the chance to talk to him about it and his role as Blue Beetle in the DCU. Here’s what he had to say about the possibility of playing Nova in the MCU.

The character of Nova has been teased in the MCU but we haven’t seen the hero yet. Nova, otherknown as Richard Rider, is a human that operates under the name Nova. He’s part of the Nova Corps, who we’ve seen in several of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. He’s among the most powerful cosmic heroes in the Marvel Universe.

Among his powers are being an expert in hand to hand combat and he’s got access to the Nova Force, which gives him superhuman strength, speed, durability, agility, and reflexes. Nova was created in 1966 by writer Marv Wolfman in issue #3 of his fanzine Super Adventures. He debuted in Marvel comics in The Man Called Nova #1 in 1976.

The MCU series doesn’t have a release date or very many details. But this development shows that talks are ongoing and rumors are flying about who could play the character.

Xolo Maridueña On The Future Of Blue Beetle In the DCU

In addition to that, Xolo Maridueña gave a bit of an update on his other superhero character, Blue Beetle.

We do know that Blue Beetle will be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming DC Universe. He’s one of the characters that’s being held over from the previous regime and plan. If you didn’t watch Blue Beetle, that film was fantastic. It showed off the potential of the character in the grand scheme and a possible Spider-Man-like tone for the DC films in the future.

We’ll have to see how all of this turns out, but it does look like Xolo Maridueña is capable of taking on both roles. We’re excited to see him return as Blue Beetle at the very least.
