Harlem season 3 brings a curtain call for our favorite girls. Creator Tracy Oliver talked to That Hashtag Show about bringing things full circle. The Prime Video series has been around for five years now. A lot has changed for both Oliver and her Harlem characters. But, she found solace in looking back to the beginning to draft a path to the future.
Oliver recalled, “If this is the end, I want everybody to have a full arc from where they were. So, for Angie, she was a struggling artist. Living with Quinn and finding her way. Very free-spirited and sexual. I was like, all right, what’s the opposite of that? What feels like the most satisfying version of her dream? But also, she’s still going to be who she is.”
“With Camille, I was like, ‘This is someone who’s never had clarity on her professional and personal life.’ Maybe, life forces that clarity that she’s able to find for herself,” Oliver ponders. “She’s put into a position where everything now has to come together in this way that you weren’t expecting.”
What Changes For Tye & Quinn in Harlem S3?
Turning attention to the rest of the group: “With Quinn, she’s a romantic like me. I wanted her to find love in a certain way. But, a surprising way. I hope that it resonates with people. But, I took a swing there with that!’”
“With Tye, she’s always done well professionally. So, I was like, ‘Let’s not do that with her.’ Let’s focus on her being vulnerable with someone and having to get over her emotional stuff,” Oliver argued. “That’s how I rerouted it. That was not how the original Season 3 looked like.”
