Horror movies love a dark, spooky setting. But Blumhouse’s upcoming flick The Woman in the Yard is ready to dish out both sunshine and ominous vibes. The film sees a woman shrouded in black appear randomly without explanation on a family’s lawn. Then she tells them, “Today’s the day.”
The day for what? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. Check out the trailer for The Woman in the Yard below.
Here’s the synopsis from NBC Universal and Blumhouse:
Ramona is crippled by grief after she survives a car accident that takes the life of her husband. Seriously injured, she now must care for their 14-year-old son and 6-year-old-daughter alone in their rural farmhouse.
Then one day the woman takes form in their yard.
Ramona assumes the woman is lost or demented, but as the woman creeps nearer and nearer to the house, it becomes clear she is no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful. Now Ramona must rally to protect herself and her children from the grasp of the woman who simply won’t leave them alone.
The film stars BAFTA and SAG award nominee Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Harder They Fall). The cast also features Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha.
Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise) directs the film from first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak. Collet-Serra also recently directed Deadwyler in the action thriller Carry On.
Both Collet-Serra and Deadwyler serve as executive producers on the film. James Moran and Gabrielle Ebron also EP, with Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain also producing.
The Woman in the Yard premieres in theaters March 28. Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
