“Fairy Tail” and “Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest” creator Hiro Mashima was at this year’s New York Comic Con. He was part of a Crunchyroll panel as well as a special signing with fans.

ONE ON ONE WITH HIRO MASHIMA

During the show, Hiro Mashima took the time to speak with me. During the interview, we talked about his time on Fairy Tail and taking it from a successful manga to a successful anime. One which now has led to Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.

He shared with us how after all this time some of the characters have really taken a life of their own, and how despite the success of a lot of his work, his processes for making manga has not changed. We take a few minutes to chat about our appreciation for the work of J.R.R. Tolkien and why it’s an inspiration for him.

Finally, Mashima takes a moment to give some advice for young artists looking to create their own manga. It’s a great conversation that you can check out below!
